This post is a nostalgic trip down memory lane for me and I wanted to share the cakes the Mum made for her children during the 1980s.
Did your Mum use the AWW Childrens Birthday Cake Book?
Ever wanted to know how to cook a great risotto? Or attempt an authentic Indian dish? Or perhaps you're just after some new biscuit recipes to pack for the kids lunchboxes? Well, this is the place to get all of those recipes, and many more! Take a look around, comment on the recipes and feel free to make requests for something specific.

I love Australian cookery books. I have a few on my shelf. Love the cake photos. The piano. The piggy. All of it. Just great.
Forgot to ask. Which was your favorite cake?
My favourite was my 3rd birthday cake which was the piano. I think it's my favourite because one of my first memories was the afternoon Mum actually made the cake. I remember her putting on the white chocolate and licorice piano keys vividly. And asking if I could eat the stool. :)
That is a good memory, Binder. Thanks so much for sharing it with me. And I love that you asked if you could eat the stool. Great story.
A piano as a cake??!!! Wow... brilliant! Love it. I can't wait to start baking with my lil Tiger.
I know that butterfly :) I was the same with my Mum & I kept the books. My son who is now 18 did the same thing with me. Such is the circle of life.
Mum had the book, but never used it. I would leaf through it hungrily. But my big sister, 8 years older than I, made me a piano for my 18th birthday (I was a talented pianist back then). Oh it tasted so lovely and was so beautiful! She also regularly made the cakes for her own kids. Love that book!
We (my brother, sister and I) loved choosing our cakes from the WW cake book. I am now making them for my kids! 32 years later!
